Badr Hari Disqualified – Takes Indefinite Leave

The Bad Boy of K-1 strikes again by displaying an illegal headkick during the main event of “It’s Showtime” in Amsterdam. Badr Hari was totally dominating Hesdy Gerges and the difference between the two fighters’ skills were very obvious. What was he thinking? He could have easily battered Gerges for the rest of the remaining roundsĀ  and win the title. But his desire to punish Gerges really badly might have led him to kick him in the head and forget that this could get him disqualified.

This is not the first time the K-1 superstar was disqualified from a main event. Back in 2008 he did the same thing when he fought Remy Bonjasky in the K-1 finals. He was also disqualified back then. Fans of the sport cried foul after this poor showing and some are requesting that he gets suspended.

Meanwhile, Badr Hari was very apologetic for the incident and said this through a press release:

During the game against Hesdy Gerges at the It’s Showtime gala in the Amsterdam ArenA I have made for the second time the same mistake in my career.
Because of this I have lost the match that I had wanted to win. An action by which I not only disappointed myself but also the audience…I want to apologize to Hesdy Gerges and the audience of the Amsterdam Arena for this default.

He later mentioned that the organization need not to suspend him because he will apparently punish himself for his indiscretion and go an indefinite leave.
