On
November 4th 2006, heads will roll
in Las Vegas when Floyd Mayweather
Jr. takes on Carlos "Tata" Baldomir
for the WBC slice of the
welterweight crown.
Flashy, flamboyant and fast, "Pretty
Boy" Floyd Mayweather Jr (36-0
24KOs) is known as the best in the
world, Pound-4-Pound, hands down.
Despite some of the toughest
competition in this era, not one
fighter yet has been able to stop
Mayweather's victories. |
|
Carlos Baldomir, (43-9-6 13KOs), has
been virtually unknown until his recent
defeats of Zab Judah and Arturo Gatti.
He is the perfect home wrecker, knowing
just how to beat a man up on his front
lawns of Brooklyn and Atlantic City.
|
|
Despite the fact
that his track
record looks
disgraceful to a
non-avid fight fan,
Carlos Baldomir is
the man to beat at
147lbs and hasn't
loss in eight years.
Thus, the right
fight for Floyd and
not Antonio
Margarito as many
presumed. Baldomir
is a solid fighter,
allowing his
consistent attack
and iron will to
guide in his quest
of supremacy.
He has the notoriety
already, but does he
really have what it
takes to defeat such
a highly skilled
fighter as
Mayweather? |
 |
|
Between the
ropes w/Carlos:
In school
students are
taught at a
young age that
all it takes to
make it in life
is consistency
and patience,
and no one has
done that more
in 2006 than
Baldomir. Wake
up and smell the
roses, were
looking at a
possible
candidate at
fighter of the
year! Tata is
the same guy who
flew into New
York, upsetting
Brooklyn's
finest in Zab
"Super" Judah. |
Between the ropes
w/Floyd:
Floyd is the more
flashier and faster
of the two, and a
heavy favorite
amongst boxing
watchers to dethrone
Carlos from his
world title. With
thirty-six straight
wins and a possible
thirty-seven on the
way, this is a
classic tale of
Boxer vs. Puncher,
with already plenty
of press and fans
raising the hand of
Floyd Mayweather
before it has even
begun. Without a
doubt, he has
several key elements
working in his favor
that his previous
thirty-six opponents
still wish upon
stars about.
Many of us called
that a fluke; a term
we normally dish out
when something
exists we don't want
wish to embrace
quite yet. After his
defeat of Judah,
Carlos caught the
next flight to
Atlantic City and
destroys Arturo
Gatti inside of nine
tough rounds. Just
imagine if he flies
out to Las Vegas in
November and upsets
Floyd Mayweather. No
dispute, no
arguments and
pugilistic excuses,
he's the man and
he's fighter of the
year.
As a heavy underdog
going into this
matchup, he knows he
doesn't have the
best craftsman tools
in his locker in
comparison to
Mayweather; he looks
more toward his
heart, determination
and chin to supply
him a victorious 10
count of a knockout.
At the rate he's
been going;
undefeated in 8
years, official
champ and runner up
for fighter of the
year, can you blame
him?
What to expect
Look for both
fighters to stick to
their guns and bring
their A game for
this matchup. In
Baldomir, Floyd is
facing a fighter not
willing to lay down;
both literally and
figuratively
speaking, no matter
how many punches he
takes coming in. In
Floyd, Carlos is
facing a man who has
tasted his slice of
limelight pie and
doesn't wish to
share it with
anybody. "Pretty
Risky" is a perfect
title for this
promotion; with
Floyd being the
pretty boy and
Carlos Baldomir the
new risk to the
Pound 4 Pound
genius. If you put
the two together
"Pretty Risky" is
what they call it.
"Pretty Risky" will
be presented by
Goosen Tutor
promotions and will
be broadcast on HBO
Pay Per View at
$49.95 on November
4.
