Machida Eyes A Date With Rampage
If you lived in an alternate universe a fight between Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson could be the for the UFC Light Heavy Weight belt. Thats how competitive and stacked the division is right now. Both fighters have previously held the belt and want nothing more than to be atop the division once more.
This fight is now being speculated after Rampage’s recent loss to yet another Light HeavyWeight title holder Sugar Rashad Evans. The winner of that fight gets to a shot at newly crowned champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. Rashad would eventually win a decision over Rampage and is set to face Rua later on this year.
A fight between Machida and Rampage would determine possible who gets number 3 spot in the division.
“I’m going to get together with Machida in the next couple of days, maybe Rampage,” said White on Saturday night following UFC 114. This statement by UFC President Dana White further hints that this fight is possibly next for these two.
