American Heavyweight Division Future Book: Part Two Of A Series

American Heavyweight Division Future Book: Part Two Of A Series, The Good, The Bad, The Ugly; Travis Kauffman Has The Tools; Malik Scott On Career Treadmill; Mexican Mauler Arrreola Can Go Places

Every boy should have a hero and Bad Brad Goodman is no exception. His hero was boxing matchmaker Bruce "Southland" Trampler. The New York native has known Trampler since 1982 and now he works under Trampler for Bob Arum's Top Rank out of the Las Vegas HQs.

Goodman worked in the old Manhattan office of Top Rank where he started by cutting out newspaper articles for legendary "press agent" Unswerving and Deserving Irving Rudd.

We asked Goodman to survey the rising American heavyweights and to give us a comment or two about each.

JD Chapman

This is a follow-up to Part One of this series in which boxing guru Johnny Bos tackled a similar assignment.

1. Kingpin Kevin Johnson: "Good boxer with a real good jab."

2. JD Chapman: "Too soon to tell but I will say he has been matched beautifully."

3. Gentleman Chazz Witherspoon: "I don't see much there. I don't see him going to the next level. No killer instinct."

4. Fast Eddie Chambers: "He can box, but a pitty-pat puncher.

5. Damien "Bo" Wills: "A decent prospect. A boxer-puncher but, unfortunately, not the puncher that his father, Mark "Chill" Wills was."

6. Malik Scott: "He is in the same place he was three years ago."

7. Chris "The Nightmare" Arreola: "He is a rarity, a Mexican heavyweight, and he can go places. Boxer-puncher who is aggressive. He is not bad. His physique makes him look bad, but he can fight. He was a light heavyweight in the amateur ranks."

8. Johnnie White: "Haven't seen him. All I know is he is a kid out of Lake Charles, La."

9. Damien Rapley: "Johnny Bos works with him in New York, but I've never seen the guy fight."

10. Travis Kauffman: "He's got some tools. We've used him at Top Rank. He's got quick hands. He also has a good amateur background. Really good technical skills."
